Many young international rugby players dream of pursuing their playing career and education in the USA. My son was one of those athletes. Like many families, we invested thousands in an agency and navigated the complexities of university applications, highlight reels, coach communication, visiting and assessing universities, and learning what to do and, importantly,
what not to do.
After my son received nine scholarship offers to play Division 1 Rugby in the US, I decided to launch a consultancy service focused on American rugby scholarships to share my insights as a parent and as an American
living in the UK.
My mission is to help others find the right fit for their collegiate rugby journey through honesty, transparency, and without the high agency price tag often associated with rugby scholarships in America.
We start with a free initial consultation, followed by an in-depth personalized strategy session, and create a plan for additional assistance tailored to your support and budget needs. We offer a cost-effective and fully customizable alternative where you pay-as-you-go and choose the level of support or financial commitment that suits you.
American Rugby Scholarships is an agency with a difference, empowering you to take control of your scholarship journey in the competitive landscape of rugby scholarships USA.
American Rugby Scholarships offers a unique pay-as-you go and customisable service, with packages that provide scheduled support sessions that meet your timeline, budget, and other needs.
Step 1: Free Initial Consultation - This introductory and exploratory 30-45 minute discussion is designed to fact-find and lay the groundwork for your scholarship journey in pursuit of American rugby scholarships.
Step 2: Personalised Strategy Session - The cornerstone offering is a personalised, two-hour strategy session that investigates your personal goals, sets realistic expectations for rugby scholarships in America, discusses coach communications and highlight reels, addresses academic requirements, identifies next steps, and provides a better understanding of the US collegiate rugby scene.
Step 3: Ongoing Support Sessions - These ongoing monthly sessions ensure your scholarship journey is progressing, provide coach introductions, address obstacles, and answer any questions. The frequency and content are fully customisable to match your timeline, informational, emotional, and budgetary needs related to rugby scholarships in the USA.
Available Support Services and Sessions:
Programme Recommendations & Coach Introductions - We help you match your academic performance and player goals with suitable US college rugby programmes, facilitating coach introductions as desired to enhance your chances of securing a rugby scholarship in America.
Topical Sessions - One-hour sessions are available for interview coaching, social media management, highlight creation, SAT exam prep guidance, and preparation for college/dorm life, culture shock, and adaptability, all crucial for navigating rugby scholarships in America.
Application Support - Step by step support to submit college applications and supporting documentation.
Final Assessment - We provide guidance and enable the use of a comprehensive assessment to weigh your options and make your final college selection for rugby scholarships USA.
Post-Departure Check-Ins - Ongoing calls and/or surveys whilst at college to ensure ongoing support.
Other Services:
Free Online/In-Person Seminars for Schools, Academies, and Club Groups - These introductory seminars address a variety of topics facing parents and students in their pursuit of US rugby scholarships.

Our son was keen to explore options of furthering his rugby aspirations by playing and studying in the USA. We were introduced to Melyni through school contacts and were immediately impressed by Melyni’s friendly, proactive and transparent approach.
Exploring a change like this was daunting – both in terms of what it could mean for us as a family and the potential costs involved – up-front and then obviously tuition/scholarships etc. Melyni gave us a great grounding, with early advice and areas for my son to search, prepare and set himself up for success. We then professionally engaged Melyni to explore further, and the incremental, structured approach provided along with sources of advice and ‘insider information’ was invaluable in our eventual decision making.
In the end our son decided to remain in Scotland to pursue rugby closer to the National setup, however we would be right back on the phone to Melyni if the situation were to change.
Would I recommend? 100%.
